Residential solar energy systems and solar thermal systems have become more viable in recent years as solar technology has become more efficient, as government incentives to consumers have increased, and as carbon-based energy costs have soared.
Current federal incentives include federal income tax credits of up to 30% of the system cost. State incentives calculate a refund based on the system size and the available Step rate. For information on which Step rate is available, go to www.csi-trigger.com. Notice that the Step rebates decrease as more solar energy systems are installed. Additional state incentives offered to low-income homeowners can offset the entire installation cost.
